This, is the age of the big cat. The cats here are the rulers of the world, dominating all lands, and all life. Many years ago, a war waged between the big cats and the mighty dogs of the world, but the cats drove out all but the wolves. The wolves could not be defeated, but they were clever, and they fled to the Northern Mountains, never to be seen from or heard from again.
Years have passed, and the old war has passed into legend, as the only time when all the cats were allied together. However, as time wore on, the cats began to bicker and fight, because cats were not meant to live in such a big group. So, they began to separate, and divide up, and then, the second bloody war began. The fight for territory. It took years for them to divide themselves, but eventually, they all got territories that fit each group. The Lions got the majority of the hot grasslands, and the leopards and cheetahs came to an agreement on the rest. They, the groups that were the friendliest towards each other split up the remaining land, giving the leopards the half with the most trees, and the cheetahs the half with the highest hills and boulders for lookouts.
The tigers did not bother with the plains and grasslands, they went north. The cougars were ever wary of the giants of the cats, and so they slithered to their red rocky mountain, calling it their own, while the tigers took the whole of the coniferous forest north. They claimed the biggest territory, as there was nobody to argue with them, and the cougars took no chances. Thus, the tigers became the power of the North.
The Jaguars and Clouded Leopards took no interest in the dry and cold, they went for the warm and wet out towards the coast. The Jaguars and the Clouded Leopards stood off, but the Leopards knew who was bigger and badder, and so they fled. They went just west of the Jaguars territory, and claimed the treetops. The Jaguars took the entire west bank of the Great River, and even went to the other side, claiming a huge territory, and making them masters of the Rainforest.
And so, each group lived, and they still live as they have for many many years. However, there is always the want for more territory, and the want for freedom. The cats agreed to meet in peace twice a year, at Storstein Peak, the great, mysterious rock. However, at all other times, they live constantly feuding with each other.
Meanwhile, as they bicker for power, the lesser cats eek out a living in the only parts of the world the big cats don't rule. They roam through all the lands, and even the territories of the big cats. Constantly on guard, their lives are hard, but they have great freedom. Free to wander where they please, stay where they like, and pick and choose their friends. Sometimes they travel in small groups, but never enough to challenge the big cats.
